I want ChatPOP!

I just remembered this chat program I used back in the days of my 56k connection.
It was a little know avatar chat program way before Habbo and Gaia by the name of ChatPOP! It was made by some Korean company and was a top down isometric pseudo-3D interface similar to Bullfrog games like Theme Hospital.
You could build your own “house” and choose from a range of avatars. I used to hang around with a girl on there when I was really little, she is still in my friends list on things like Facebook today.

I am going to make it my personal mission to attempt to track down the server software for this so I can run it and revive the awesomeness of my childhood online just for a bit. This will probably be impossible but I guess I will start by tracking down the company who made it… Wish me luck!

New forum and A TOTALLY REAL GHOST!

Hey hey kids,

Anime League is now kindly hosting our forum heralding the start of a new era for UKotaku with a closer integration with the AL user base. This should mean more listeners, more guests and of course more UK anime based content.

Check out the forum here.

I also found this footage of a TOTALLY REAL GHOST on my camera…

Wuts goin’ on?

Hello people, haven’t posted here in a while so I thought I should do a quick round up of what has been going on in the n00jiverse.

The ALcon 08 video went down really well, thanks for all the positive comments! the video is even featured on the official ALcon 08 website.
I have been asked by FreeSaiyan of Anime League to gather together all the footage from the other ALers at the con and edit together a 30 minute narrated documentary for ALcon 09. Awesome! Please join the discussion thread.

In other ALcon news we got our special podcast online last night, pretty cool stuff, thanks to Yuura and Raynn for skypeing in with us. I have also been discussing some ideas with the MGAC podcast people about the possibilty of running a “podcasting and social media” panel at ALcon 09, so keep your ears/eyes peeled for that.

In other project news, rokaru is still limping along with basically no activity and we has a forum.

ALcon 2008 Video

I have finished the mammoth task of transferring all my ALcon footage onto my PC and tonight I will begin work on the documentary. I think it has bee firmly established that ALcon 2008 was a roaring success with power levels of at least 9000, perhaps even more, so I am going to try my hardest to make the documentary reflect this level of awesomeness.

Thank you to everyone involved for making ALcon 2008 one of the coolest weekends of my life! *GLOMP*

Also, Lucy is lovely.

rokaru update

Ok, I have spent most of the weekend working on a new look rokaru and adding content.

I also made a “How To Use” video, behold!

You can check out the fruits of my labours at http://ukotaku.net/rokaru

Time to move…

Just trying to figure out the best course of action for attempting to redirect our userbase from the blogger and podbean sites… I don’t want to lose anyone but I am sick of paying for Podbean’s shitty services so I need to stop uploading the show onto their servers and get everyone downloading it from mine. Unfortunately they have me slightly by the short and curlies as I can not directly edit the iTunes feed they provide, so no iTunes redirect is possible without giving them even more money for a “Premium” account.  And so, much head scratching and beard stroking commences…

WordPress w00t!

Just testing this shiz…
